THE VISION OF ABIDING FAITH

Abiding Faith Church is anointed to inspire ordinary people to do extraordinary things for God's glory.  Our goal is to be more than hearers, but doers of the Word.  Accomplishing His purpose requires a personal commitment from each member of the body to visit the sick and shut-in, nursing home, hospital and prison.

Our objective is to be a focal point in the community and to demonstrate the love of Christ.  We seek to be a source of moral support for the psychologically and emotionally abused, and those suffering from low self-esteem and poor self-image.  We strive to create a loving and nurturing environment of mutual respect for everyone.  We aim to encourage families and individuals to become the best that God intended.

Our focus is the creation of a caring environment with a goal of fostering and nourishing positive, Godly attitudes and a firm spiritual commitment to do God's will in all areas of life including church, home and community.

Abiding Faith is committed to lead men, women and children to a close personal relationship in the Lord.  Our mission is to nurture and equip the believer in sound biblical teachings, spirit-filled worship and praise, Christ-centered fellowship and effective community outreach in Him.

OUR PASTOR, REV. WHITE

A native of Baytown, Rev. White is the founder of Abiding Faith Baptist Church, where he has served as senior pastor since February 1997.

Before his call to the ministry twenty-seven years ago, White was employed as a journalist in the Houston broadcast industry for ten-years, where he covered breaking news events. This followed a twenty year successful career in government with the City of Houston, starting in the fall of 1980 until his retirement in 2001 to enter full-time ministry. While employed at the city, White managed the real estate appraisal division, and also served on the personal staffs of two former mayors.

He is presently CEO of the Southeast Texas Faith-Base Economic Development Consortium, Inc., a non-profit 501c3 Corporation made up of individuals on the board who serve from five local African American churches. The Consortium’s goal is to address social and economic needs by securing public and private funding with the purpose of improving the quality of life in our communities.

Rev. White, the parent of an adult-son and grand-father of four girls, is married to Jo Ann Seary-White, also a Baytown native, for forty-three years. White is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts Degree in Christian Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Texas College, a historically black college in Tyler Texas.
